ประเพณีของคนไทยการแต่งงาน

2.การหมั้น – หลังจากได้มีเจรจาสู่ขอเป็นที่ตกลงกันเรียบร้อยแล้ว บางครั้งทางผู้ใหญ่ต้องการให้มีการหมั้นกันสักระยะหนึ่งก่อน แล้วค่อยจัดงานแต่งภายหลัง เพื่อให้โอกาสทั้งฝ่ายหญิงและฝ่ายชายได้ศึกษาอุปนิสัยกันมากขึ้น ต้องมีการกำหนดฤกษ์ยามในวันหมั้น รวมทั้งกำหนดสินสอดทองหมั้น หรือที่เรียกว่า " ขันหมากหมั้น " ตามธรรมเนียมการหมั้นนั้น เท่ากับเป็นการจอง หรือวางมัดจำไว้นั่นเอง หญิงที่ถูกหมั้นถือว่าได้ถูกจองไว้แล้ว จะไปรับจากชายอื่น หรือผู้ใหญ่ฝ่ายหญิงจะยกให้ใครอื่นอีกไม่ได้จะลองมองกันให้ดีแล้ว
3.พิธีแต่งงาน – ตอนเช้าจะทำบุญตักบาตรเลี้ยงพระ รดน้ำสังข์เพื่อให้ญาติผู้ใหญ่ ที่นับถือได้เป็นสักขีพยานในการแต่งงาน จากนั้นก็มักจะมีการกินเลี้ยงกัน
4.ชุดวิวาห์ - ชุดที่ใส่ในพิธีแต่งงานโดยชุดดังกล่าวนั้นจะสวมใส่เฉพาะฝ่ายหญิงหรือสตรีผู้เป็นเจ้าสาวเรียกว่าชุดวิวาห์ ซึ่งมีหลากหลายสีตามชนชาติ และวัฒนธรรมของชาตินั้นๆ แต่สวนมากจะเป็นสี ขาว ครีม งาช้าง ชมพู แดง ทอง ล้วนแต่เป็นสีที่มงคลที่นำมาสวมใส่ไม่นิยมสวมใส่สีที่ไม่เป็นมงคล เช่น สีดำ สีม่วง
